If there is such a thing as anointed, who are they? What qualifies them other than a feeling similar to indigestion?

The way the Watchtower descibes the feeling is when you are reading "God's Word." They say that if, when reading it, you "feel" as if you are being spoken to directly, then it's possible you are of the "chosen." Determining that is for the individual. I'm not 100% sure on this, but it's what I have from memory.

I attended a church that took it as a matter of course that everyone who was baptized was anointed with the Holy Spirit. Of course, there was no "class distinction" so it wasn't held up as a great "privelege" in hushed tones, as they do at the Kingdom Hall.

I saw an "anointed" at a Kingdom Hall in Calgary. She was legally blind so she carried the large print bible in several large shopping bags, occupying seats on either side of her. During the talk she looked up every scripture, flipping through those encyclopedic tomes like a scholarly athelete.

The answer is very simple: In the Bible all Christians were anointed, ie, born again of the holy spirit. And they all partook of the emblems. The Society completely acknowledges this.

The Apostle Paul said at Galatians 1 that anyone, even an angel, that teaches something beyond what they had been taught as good news should be accursed.

Joseph Rutherford came along 1900 years later and said that there is a modern-day group of Christians who are not anointed and shold not partake of the emblems.

If you profess to be a true Christian exercising faith in Jesus shed blood and pray to God "Abba, father", then of necessity you are anointed and are in the new covenant. It does not matter whether it is your hope to be one of the righteous in the new heavens or the new earth.

JW's have a simple choice about this: Believe the good news of Jesus and the apostles or believe the 'good news' of Judge Rutherford.

I suppose a good dose of metamucil will cure a good deal of the anointed

In addition to indigestion, the differential diagnosis (DDx) for "anointed" should include myocardial infarction, transient ischemic attack, cerebral hemorrhage, etc. Just sayin'....
