k, so i've been out for about 6 months officially, but over the last 3 years, i'd only been to a few meetings. i am now considered an apostate.

i know there's a scripture out there, and i think it's paul who essentially says he knows people will leave the "truth"...

and that these people aren't bad. or something. does anyone know anything more about this, and of the practice of cutting off all contact with so called apostates? i'd like the actual scripture references, if possible, but i'm not sure what to look for.

The scripture JWs use to justify shunning of "apostates" is this one (from the NWT):

    2 John 9-11:
Everyone that pushes ahead and does not remain in the teaching of the Christ does not have God. He that does remain in this teaching is the one that has both the Father and the Son. 10 If anyone comes to ?YOU? and does not bring this teaching, never receive him into ?YOUR? homes or say a greeting to him. 11 For he that says a greeting to him is a sharer in his wicked works.

Not sure about your Paul reference - I'm pretty sure he had only nasty things to say about those who didn't agree with him.....
