[I]If you were still an active and uninformed dubb...

    1) What would go through your mind when you open your mail and see this?

    2) When you realize that your neighbor got this too, what would you do?

    3) When you realize that everyone on the whole street got this, how would you feel?

    4) Will you go to the elders?

    5) Will you go wipe yourself?

... because I know that some who got it...

    -went to the leders
    -went to their neighbors
    -wiped themselves
    -cried

...and I know that I myself would not want my neighborhood to see this.

I don't say this to be mean... I say this to help you improve your efforts.

It is too long, covers too many topics, makes subjective observations and makes accusations without supporting evidence.

You have to remember, if a non-jw saw this, he would quickly conclude that it was a document of strong opposition to the JWs and dismiss it as too one sided.

You also have keep in mind that people’s attention span these days is not what it used to be - keep it short and sweet.

Try this - make a one-page document with large text that covers one or two brief topics with brief supporting evidence.

    As an example:

First the Catholic Church, now the Jehovah's Witnesses.
Is a pedophile knocking on your door?

Jehovah's Witness’s internal policies make it very difficult or impossible for pedophiles to be removed from congregations or the Door-to-Door work.

    * Before a person can be found guilty of molesting a child, the accused must either admit to the act or the victim must provide two or more eyewitnesses for each instance of the abuse before the congregation elders will act against the accused. (Note: the victim does not count as a witness)

    * If there are not two or more eyewitnesses, then the accused is presumed innocent.

    * If the victim attempts to warn others about the person the victim will be shunned by the congregation for slander.

In coming weeks Dateline NBC will be covering this topic. For further information call: 1-800-NBC-NEWS ext. 4801 Richard Greenburg (US only)

(Note: this is not a publication of NBC)

Thanks. I always accept constructive criticism. In coming days, I am preparing something along those lines.

I do know this, though, that if more people would spend less time surfing and more time licking stamps, then the world would be a better place.

    Hi BX,

Okay, so it's a bit "wordy", but I DO like the premise and presentation very much.

As far as being wordy, I have a strong tendency to do the very same thing (how sweet of you not to notice-LOL!) but we have SO much to say and it's hard to decide just WHAT issue to raise and how much to say ABOUT it, huh?

Maybe you feel as I do, that if you DON'T address one certain issue, that THAT one could have been the one to touch a nerve or have more meaning for the reader.

Whatever the case, I applaud your effort. You're in there plugging away and doing what you CAN.

    hugs,

    Annie

and didn't I forget to answer the questions-haha!

I]If you were still an active and uninformed dubb...

    1) What would go through your mind when you open your mail and see this?

I'd dismiss it as (gasp) apostate claptrap.

    2) When you realize that your neighbor got this too, what would you do?

Depending on how well I know him/her, I'd either ignore it, or mention that this is just part of the promised persecution we have come to expect.

    3) When you realize that everyone on the whole street got this, how would you feel?

Pretty crummy, cuz I'd know they'd all be wondering WHAT THAT was all about!

    4) Will you go to the elders?

    Oh yeah!

    5) Will you go wipe yourself?

WHAT? And waste all that GOOD documented persecution?

    Take care, BX

I will find out tomorrow, just what is happening in JW homes around here. I will hear if somebody got vexed. I will hear about any tears.

OH! I am so looking forward to it.
