Londo111 mentioned this in an earlier post
" I was taught never to pray aloud about private things--because then Satan and the demons, who can't read minds, would be listening in. If I mentioned aloud some weakness I was struggling with, then they would hear of it, and exploit it. By implication, that would somehow override the help from God"
What do jw's pray about? It is my understanding that jw's do not 'talk' to God (and obviously not Jesus) as Christians do, meaning, many Christians talk about having a relationship with Christ and this is something jw's simply cannot wrap their heads around. This is not the topic of my question before this thread gets out of hand.
jw's are not to pray about some 'weakness', they are not to pray for everyday things like help with work, etc... they certainly do not pray for others (such as the non jw victims of Sandy), they cannot pray for their country or leaders ( I Timothy 2:1-4) they can't pray for the recovery of a non jw family member because if they recover from a health issue and then the big A comes they will not be with them in "paradise" because they are not jw's, so on and so forth...
What the heck can they pray for? do they pray when alone? did you as a jw? or did you feel you must be in a kh or with other jw's to be 'heard'?
My jw thinks it ridiculous when teams say a prayer before a game or if at a function a minister or priest injects any humor at all in the prayer. I think he finds any humor associated with prayer as sacriligious (if that term can even be used for a jw).
