Comforter in the Bible

I would like to know what your thoughts are on who or what is the Comforter mentioned by Jesus in the Bible. I have heard different opinions on this matter from a Christian perspective and am hoping you could share your beliefs with me God-willing.

Something to remember, if you look for answers from "a Christian perspective," you probably wont find the right answer. The best answers will be found in a study of other literature of that era.
