I am in a very rotten mood and I am very pissed off today. I just want to smack a certain someone right now.

Now let me back up and explain why. My husband was laid off from his job, but that is not why I’m angry. They told us that there is a waiting week before his unemployment will start, but again that is not why I’m angry.

When my husband was laid off, he was given a letter, and I took it to the company I make my house payments to. I explained to them that my husband will be getting unemployment pay, and I would start making payments as soon as it started. They made a copy of the letter, and said ok. I have been making my house payment on time for the past four years, and never missed a payment. Now in today’s mail I received a letter from my mortgage company who sent me a letter which ended with this, “As you are aware, we take delinquencies very seriously.” Now you might be asking me how late or how far behind on your house payments are you? The answer to that question is, I am at the moment 6 days late.

Yes that letter bugged me, but again that is not why I am so pissed off. I went in and gave the mortgage company a partial payment, they are ok with this part, and it was something I had already explained to them.

Now this is why I am pissed off.

While I was writing the check, the woman who I made the payment to had the nerve to say this to me.

“I know why you did not come in until now to make your payment. You were thinking today is 12-21-12, and it is the end of the world.”

I very quickly corrected her, and told her that I NEVER believed that the world was going to end today. I went on to tell her, yes the Mayan calendar cycle ended, but what happens when January 1 rolls around? You just start a new calendar; it does not mean the end of the world. Besides that, today was the first day my husband got his unemployment check.

Growing up in the JW cult, all I ever heard was the end of the world and the destruction of mankind. I am so SICK OF HEARING OF THIS STUPID BULLCRAP; I just want to wring that woman’s neck. But I just did the polite thing, and made my payment, told her when I will be in to make my next payment and left.

Perhaps she was trying to make a joke - that fell like a lead balloon.

Sorry about your husband getting laid off - hope he finds a new job very soon.

Hi Tameria, yes that was not very nice. Everyone is feeling the pinch, and 6 days late is hardly a massive problem. They treat it as they are doing you a favour lending you money, when in fact they are making a mint from you probably. This site is always good to chat to people and vent your feelings. Hope you have a good holiday.

She is not the most skilled at PR. I am certain she did not mean to annoy you. Anything JW related, such as the end of time, triggers me deeply. I am no longer a normal person. The law calls it a thin skull rule. If someone has a particular defect, such as a think skull, the person committing negligence is still responsible. We probably all have a thin skull about these matters. People can't tell from looking you that you are a former Witness.

Most people take these end of world pronouncements as a sheer crazy hoot. I can't.

This is a good place to vent b/c I can certainly understand your annoyance.
