Filtering around the internet today, we have the story of a plane crash in Mexico, and allegedly it belonged to the CIA. The plane's cargo turns out to be 4 tons of cocaine.
The source of the story turns out to be 'The Arnprior News,' Arnprior apparently is a suburb of Ottawa.

This news source is apparently only a internet site, so ordinarily I'd go past this story - but ....
First, for years after the CPC beat the daylights out of the American backed armies of GMD (KMT-that is the armies of Generalissimo Chiang Kai Shek). there were news stories of drug sourcing by Chiang Kai Sheks defeated forces.
As the communist armies rolled down from the north of China, the KMT armies were either evaporating, surrendering, or fleeing to Taiwan, or running further south. In Yunnan the KMT 93rd Division, under the command of General Li Mi, escaped into Burma (now that's an angle to explore) and seized control of the poppy growing areas of the Shan states. Li Mi was instructed by Chiang Kai Shek to stay there, take control of the Heroin trade, and wait for an opportunity to take part in an expected (that never came) opportunity to re-invade the mainland. Taiwan became (in this story) a sanctuary for assorted drug runners. And, the CIA supposedly supported the KMT 93rd division as an opportunity to harass the Chinese Communists, and 'permitted' heroin production as a means of financing that campaign. Quote: CIA and Kuomintang opium smuggling operations
In order to provide covert funds for the Kuomintang (KMT) forces loyal to General Chiang Kai-shek, who were fighting the Chinese communists under Mao Zedong, the CIA helped the KMT smuggle opium from China and Burma to Bangkok, Thailand, by providing airplanes owned by one of their front businesses, Air America. Claims of drug traffic by the CIA continued through the Vietnam War.
And finally, the USA now has a large occupation army in Afghanistan, and seems unable to stop production of Opium, in spite of having spy/kill drones that can take out dissidents at will. Heroin addiction in Afghanistan is said to be a worsening problem.
Short of a bloody revolution that captures Washington intact, I guess we are never going to know the truth about the plane crash in Mexico.
