I have just spent the past hour reading the blog in question in JW Survey (going off at a tangent to the links to Anthony Morris III and those hilarious videos on utube lol). Most enlightening and fascinating! The comments from none JWs were, as you say, very interesting. Thank you so much for that, Cedars.
Thanks for the link.
TSIG's comment was good -
"How soon til the eight become seven and the seven become six til there's only one."
Regardless of whom Jesus appointed (if you go along with the WTBTS interpretation) the GB have total control of whom they choose to be part of the FDS, whether that is one person or a hundred. With the previous interpretation this was not the case.
Thanks Cedars.
Having been born in and only just escaping in my 50's, it's interesting to see what 'worldly(TM)' people ACTUALLY think of the WBT$.
Cedars,
I hope you cover the power grab that Rutherford pulled off when the "old man died" And how this could have been possibly paralleled in the first century prelude to the apostles being Chosen similarily.

One of the comments from that forum..........
God doesn't do committees.
Classic.
My co worker put it very succintly. He says the Governing Body is a "self appointed ombudsman." Funny how non JW's can see this so clearly and we couldn't while we were "in."
It's just like Lot's sons-in-law. They think it's all a joke. Soon they'll be filling up my post-Armageddon salt shaker!
But that really is a good thread there. It's kind of surprising that they don't just go ahead and capitalize Faithful and Discreet Slave at this point. I doubt anyone would notice.

The 8 will never become one. The unique characteristics of the culture allow for there to be this small group speaking "as one" even when not in agreement. Even a GB member isn't safe from the GB.
Yes, I think the group will be staying in place as they are without too much consolidation over time. Isn't that how the Mormons are run, a group of elders?
