Just yeast so far. I don't quite get why they want to test it on Ecuadorians but maybe they sub for lab rats these days.

In addition, if you're interested in Not Dying, there's C60 in olive oil. There's a lab in the Czech Republic that's mixing and shipping it.

Tastes a little stingy... very speculative, of course.

I had a fun " what if " conversation with my daughter. We watched BOURNE LEGACY, and I said " What if you could have done to you, what those scientists did in the movie? If there was a 50/50 chance with death as the alternative of success, would you do it?" She said " Yes. " I would too.

I would imagine that we will see a major improvement in repacement parts, and prosthetics before we get any super injections or pills. You are not going to live too long if you are not rich anyway. We are all going to kick the bucket i'm afraid..

That article in the link is over 5 years old. If anything big came out of the tests, I assume we would have heard about sometime since then. I don't doubt that something like this might be possible some day, but I think it's a long way off. The problem is that almost all funding for R&D, both government and private, is earmarked toward research on specific diseases and not old age in general.

You are not going to live too long if you are not rich anyway.

And that is the crux of the matter. Can't even get a decent prosthetic limb nowadays in Canada, unless you have a private fund of at least $50-75K.

Science can't even agree on what the ageing process is, not because it's some kind of mystery from Ja-hoo-ha, but because it is so complex and has many elements.

If I had to single one thing out, we know telomere length puts a limit on our cell replication. However Lobsters can regenerate telomere length and they don't live forever.....

By the way, Watchtower used to talk about telomere length being JUST one switch that if adjusted could lead to everlasting life.... idiots.

Sorry about the date. It got posted elsewhere as 2013. I'm puzzled that I never heard of it and I try to follow this stuff.

Anyhow, don't give up on life extension. There are a lot of ways that the 'price' could be quite cheap.

I'm not a Ph.D but I'd still argue that the cause of aging concerns defective proteins and how the body either prevents them or disposes of them.

Why? Whales and turtoises can have extremely long lives and they can stay underwater for extended periods because their biochemical processes have to be very precise and careful because of the lack of oxygen. Bad proteins get prevented. There are studies on this but they often get ignored. People are eating 200 year old Rockfish when they should be saved and studied (See "Ageless Animals')
