Christ Jesus used illustrations constantly to help people reason on the truth. Following his example, I give an illustration here to put the spotlight on a disgusting, illegal, and unscriptural practice:

Brother Org-Love discovers to his horror that Brother Longserve has been interfering with his little daughter. His precious offspring has revealed some of the things 'Uncle John' has been doing to her. What does Brother Org-Love do?

Immediately he calls another elder, and together they telephone Bethel to ask for advice on how they should handle the matter, especially since there are not two witnesses to the events..................................

Would an elder-parent in this situation 'listen, obey, and be blessed' by sticking to the Org's "direction"?

I very much doubt it!! Any loving father's instincts would (should) kick in instantly, and brushing aside the thoughts of what he would personally like to do to such a man, he would (should) immediately contact the police to do what they are trained to do - investigate crimes.

Any elder who accepts the the Society's "guidance" on allegations of pedophilia, should be disgusted at what they see in the mirror! (James 1:23)

If someone had molested my daughter, they would have had to deal directly with me and the police, no congregation involvement whatsoever. What business is it of theirs. This bumb will pay...big time.

    *** it-1 p. 55 Affection ***

Paul also indicated that the last days would be characterized by people “having no natural affection” (Gr., a′stor·goi) and that such persons are deserving of death.—2Ti 3:3; Ro 1:31, 32.

If the reaction to any form of child abuse is to not involve the authorities then this scripture exactly describes Jehovah's Witnesses IMO.

In the greater JW community outward appearances such as regular meeting attendance, field service, congregational position etc. promotes a sense of mutual trust based on shared values. The bond and trust that exists among witnesses can allow a parent to drop their guard. This trust in the 'friends' leaves many children vulnerable to the kind of person who is driven to take advantage of the opportunities available to become more intimate with underage children.

To complicate the issue further Elders are not trained for this type of situation and Bethel has been reticent to establish protocols that would protect the child. Hence the law suits and closed settelments.

I told the BOE in my KH that if I was not informed of a danger to my child and something happened....well, let's hpoe we don't have to go down that road. I also made it very clear that it would not be Jesus' fault, but human error. I have no privliges....hmmmm.

    Good point Amelia!

You're trying to make sense of nonsense.

Two witnesses or it didn't happen.

    Suck on that, Elder.

I think a private encounter with the elder would involve his getting a broken nose just before the police were called.
