Is it just me, but does anyone else just see Tim Tebow as one of the biggest douche bags in sports? I hate self rightous idiots. I see him and I see that out of touch with reality elders child dropping out of school to Pioneer and making everyone else feel like assholes because they finished school and wanted a job. He gets to convention parts, the talks, promoted to elder by 29 and all the while his family suffers from his lack of education, skills in life and ability to relate. Yet they keep putting the douchebag on a pedistal to be worshiped and respected.

"When you pray, don't be like the douchebags who love to pray and prostrate themselves to Christ publicly in sports stadiums where everyone can see them. I tell you the truth, that is all the reward they will ever get."

That was a highly succinct synopsis. I remember early days of being around the jw church, and there was almost a deification of certain men. if a person had talent xyz then it just seemed like the right thing to do ....that it would actually be encouraged that if you had the oratory skills, or whatever else you had as a man in the religion , that you should invest in yourself as if you were something above other people. it is really only in the last couple years of my life do i realize how wrong all of this was, and how engrained in their culture it is. the irony being that it seems like "the world" is finally casting aside a lot of these same notions. was kind of a big shock for me to come out of the org as someone with some of the status that i have, and then it was like a punch in the face that i took, realizing that the status of old no longer exists(at least in the same way). in other words, because you had xyz or were xyz in 1994 it meant you had an instant ticket to pretty much do whatever you want get whatever you want, but now it seems like that has changed dramatically.

Everything gets back to cycles though. we actually do better as a people when we do lift certain people up. once the playing field has evened out again (cycles), then people will begin to lift individuals up again and things will be good....then the same cycle will begin again, too many bad players realizing that if they get themselves in a certain position they can then rape and gank all the people who lifted them up in the first place, and then the cycle repeats itself. and where a guy like tebow is pretty much harmless, he ends up looking like a total pompous jackass. i think of someone like john wayne, from what i understand he wasn't the type of person who wanted people runnin around making him into a god, the people made him a god even though it didn't seem like that was his thing at all. i might be totally wrong on that because i wasn't around, but that was what i picked up on from old interviews etc. so the people were happy to lift up certain individuals and just keep them up on a pedestal, where now, just seems like people aren't comfortable with anyone being entrusted in this way.

He'll never be considered near the top of the douchebag list as long as people like Ray Lewis are around.

I see him as a different flavor of brainwashed JW.

Homeschooled...that type of environment can lead to absolute mind control.

He really does not understand that his constant references to Jesus Christ are a turn-off to all but his hard core fan base.

I don't blame him as much as I blame his parents.

Oh and what sooner said, that Shannon Sharpe interview with Ray Ray before that game ruined my Super bowl appetite

I don't really care what he does, religion wise. Tons of other players thank god in their interviews and such as well as openly pray. I hate that he was hyped up so much when it was clear he was never really going to be a good quarterback.
