It has been confirmed by some brothers on Facebook that a 42 year old sister died today around 5pm when her SUV got on the train tracks while the Amtrak was crossing in the state of NC.

It came up on the news today although they never mentioned that she was one of Jehovah's witnesses.

So where was Jehovah's Holy Spirit in this matter? Why was she not saved? And also why are some investigators calling it a suicide? Aren't JWs the happiest people on earth living in a "spiritual paradise"?

It sickens me when the only response I get is always the same, "unforceen occurrences befall us all."

Religion aside, I'm very sorry for this human being and if I could have done anything to prevent it, I would. Even if I was disfellowshipped or dissasociated and labeled an evil, mentally diseased apostate, and knowing that she was a jw, I'd still try and save her. And that is something that I don't believe most jw's would do.

I'm posting from my phone so I can't put up the link to the video but just google "train crash woman nc" on the news section of google and it'll be the first one.

Very sad... it also appears this woman was charged with embezzlement last year. I wonder if that had something to do with this tragedy?

I don't know for sure Chaserious but that is worth looking into. Here is the link to on of the videos where a supposed i-witness said that he believes it was an accident but the Police are still investigating. As always I hope it's clickable. http://abclocal.go.com/wtvd/story?section=news/local&id=8983179

Important things to take into account. These are direct quotes from the news article. (Italics mine)

Emergency workers pronounced Fowler dead at the scene. It was her 42nd birthday, according to a police accident report made public Thursday.

Witnesses told police that instead of pulling up to the intersection of Hoke and South Blount streets, the vehicle cut across the gravel parking lot and into the path of the train.

Police reported that Fowler’s SUV was sitting in a graveled area between the two railroad crossings before it slowly rolled at 8 mph onto the South Blount Street railroad track and into the path of the Amtrak train traveling 60 mph.

Cary police accused Fowler on May 23 of embezzling around $30,000 from her former employer, the Chet Adams Co., Inc.

Investigators think Fowler began embezzling the funds on Oct. 28, 2010, and continued until March 22, 2012, court records show. She was released from the Wake County jail after posting a $5,000 bond.

I don't know about you guys but I find this whole thing a bit strange.

Probably knew she wasn't going to get any sympathy or support from any of her friends at the KHall. Within a matter of weeks she'd be all alone, shunned, and humiliated. Easier to face the oncoming Amtrak train than the Judical Committee Railroading.

it wouldn't be the 1st JW suicide, regardless of the circumstances

Why would a multi-million dollar empire like the Chet Adams Company press charges against an ex-employee for allegedly embezzling $30K? Wasn't firing her enough?

I would certainly understand if this were Grandma's Flower Shop or Joe's Tire Repair, but we're talking about a well-established HVAC company that probably makes $30K profit in just one small project. Also, if she had been stealing from them for a period of 17 months, what does that say about their accounting department? And more importantly, why would they put their reputation at risk by taking this into a court room?

    Something doesn't quite add up...

    why wouldn't they press charges?

It is their right to do so, it sends a message to other employess that you don't get to steal a years wages and walk away with a shoe up your butt.

How is their reputation at risk for taking legal action againts a theif?

It all adds up perfectly: an employee steals a bunch of money and probably 'can't do the time for the crime'. Added to the situation is her own mindset as a jw in crises.
