He was in one of the subway stations here peddling the mags, can't say for sure if he has Parkinson's, but his body had "the shakes" that folks get if they have it,he had one crutch up under his shoulder to support him and he had a four pronged cane for his other hand, which he wasn't using. I just had to say something to him, I asked him why is he doing this and he said "we're commanded to do so" then I asked if he felt alright because he certainly didn't look it and he said "well, not really since all the cuts in Medicaid and other medical services" so, obviiously we wasn't doing to well at all. I said you don't have to do this, what scripture in the Bible says you have to turn in your time, there's no scripture that says that, and surprisingly he said with a bit of hesitattion "well, I guess you're right". I said you're just turning in time for the Governing Body, you're just doing it for them and I said a few other things and he didn't say a word, usually, they don't even let you get that far without offering up an argument or quoting some scripture, he just stood there and listened. I actually felt sorry for him, he wasn't elderly and if he can get around with his crutches that's good, but he doesn't need to stand in a subway station obviously suffering and shaking from whatever illness he has just to get his time in. I told him should look up on the computer if he has one the truth about the truth, I hope he does, because he either he didn't have the strength to reply or he was actually listening. Absolutely horrendous how they have even those who are physically impaired out peddling their trash because they're "commanded to do so" !

i have seen a very handicapped person doing the same he could not talk but with noises. It was so wrong. He was an object of pity.

You did a good thing by planting a seed. These poor folks (sick and elderly) give their left arms for a silly publishing cult. They should be taking care of themselves, and the elderly should be taking it easy, enjoying their golden years. Abused people have low self esteem, low self worth. The Watch Tower Society prints love but have never been about love. Love comforts, encourages, understands. How is a man standing with a crutch under his shoulder and a 4 prong cane, holding up a billion dollar business empire's magazine, showing the passersby anything, except, "poor guy, stuck in a weird religion, being used". Does he allow himself to be "used" because he has the aforesaid, low self esteem, low self worth and has been groomed this way, on purpose, like a dog, and is so brow beaten, that is all he expects out of his life? Hoping for an approved smile from "mother"? How sad and disgusting and disturbing is that?

Surprised he didnt go with the "go and make disciples" reply, or even "God's will route", etc.. I mean there's various replies that can be given to the conundrum you presented Shirley. I figure he either couldn't answer you because he really didnt have a legitimate reply, or like many witnesses didnt feel like arguing. The guilt used to get folks out there is criminal. People need to feel good about what they are doing. It sounds like he has a great number of limitations on him. Who else would want him to represent them in the public arena?

Here, he felt good about the "work" he was doing. He was proving himself "acceptable to God" (in his own eye of JW understanding).

So you walk up and dash everything he is doing to shit! Do you think he really felt better having it suggested that all his effort was in vain vs. thinking that all he has done in God's name will not be forgotten? (Heb 6:10 or 10:6 -- drinking) Did you did just rape him of all that made him feel good about himself?

It is no different than me insisting that all my 80-something year old parents face up to the facts that The Truth is a lie and worthless and in vain. No, it is their life's work at this point. They have little to offer in any other way. They are old. They have invested EVERYTHING in this "cause". They have accepted the fact that they will make it into the New World via the "Underground".

Why don't you STFU and go volunteer at a soup kitchen to feel good about yourself instead of dumping your shit on someone else's lawn?
