Do you think GB members are scared of each other in case they say or do something stupid? (a la Raymond Franz)

No way to know, really, but I doubt it.

I think after Ray the GB members were probably vetted very closely to make sure they were company men.

I think that they were very afraid to add new members as the old guard were dying off. That is why they dwindled down to only 7 members. Mark Sanderson must have sucked a lot of d**ks before they finally approved him. They are trying to make sure that power will not shift from them to new members.

I would not be surprised if they have internal power struggles just like every other body of elders. Surely there was resentment towards those who were able to "take control" of the Body, ie Ted Jaracz, Albert Schroeter, Milton Henschel. It's human nature. They too were/are just imperfect men, and no doubt all very opinionated. There was and is probably always a fear that someone will take total control again as did Rutherford, Knoff, Franz (as they were all in awe of him and his writings).

    Boys will be boys.

I think they ARE! After all they are just MEN. The same way a group of elders will 'fight' for power, or be afraid to admit TTATT if they realise it, the same so with the governing body MEN.

thought on this topic off and on today. Yes they are afraid of each other. Why should they br any different then the rank and file. We all keep part of ourselves apart because of the fear of saying something not quite in agreement. They must be fearful because of their positions.

I remember reading a few years ago a brother relating that he personally asked Lyman Swingle a question about something that had been bothering him. Brother Swingle became exasperrated and said to the effect, "Why are you asking me these things? Look it up The Watchtower...." Swingle either did not know or looked to The Watchtower as the answer-all to any question.

You gotta figure, most of these guys have to wonder who/where new light comes from and look at Russell, Rutherford, Franz as the oracles of understanding.
