Can JWs now join Boy/Girl Scouts?

  I get the Google Alerts for the JWs and below is from one of the obits it sent out regarding a sister that was 76 years old when she died:
  

  Joan attended beauty school and was a certified nurse’s assistant at the Manor Nursing Home. She was a member of the Cowlitz Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Joan was a Girl Scout leader and the craft consultant for the Northwest Washington region. She loved her cats and being around people.

  When I was growing up in the 60's and 70's Girl Scouts wasn't permitted. So when did this new light happen, or is it just a regional new light, since in certain parts of the country Dubs are doing things that another part of the country can't.

  I knew an elder whose son was a cub scout until someone told on him. Basically, if you are an elder or related to one, you can do anything unless someone rats you out.

  Def not ok for jws. I'm surprised the obit mentioned it since it was surely before she was a witness. maybe it was written by a relative who wasn't a witness.

  There is an elder in my wife cong that has a daughter in dance. I am not sure if it is ballet or jazz.

  It seemed odd to me.

  Mind you the BOE are a bunch of drunks, maybe they just try not to rock the boat.

  Supporting and encouraging young girls in good worth ethics, helping them be more self reliant are definately ideas based on the devil. Also.... teaching girls to read... nothing good can come of any of it!
