The Queen of Enland V's Governing Body.

The aging Queen of England has a lot in common with the dear Old men of the GB.
    The Queen will not abdicate.Why?
Because she believes she has been chosen by God to rule as queen over Britian.
And the stupid Brits let her have the power.
Might as well be a whole country of Jehovahs witnesses.

    Sleepy,

The Queen wonders if you would like an extended vacation in the Tower of London. Please bring your own axe.

Note your point of entry is between the arched stonework level with the river.

    It's called "Traitors gate". [>:(]

    Englishman.

Eng, shouldn't that be 'Judas Gate?' How many named gates did Solomon's temple have?

"The aging Queen of England has a lot in common with the dear Old men of the GB."

She has nothing in common with the GB ... they are light years apart.

" ... The Queen will not abdicate. Why?"
The British people did try to abolish the Monarchy, but it didn't work. It is not that she will not abdicate, but that tradition works for the Brits, and they are not clamoring from her to abdicate.

"Because she believes she has been chosen by God to rule as queen over Britian."
At one time, about a 1,000 years ago, the Catholic Church promoted this idea of the Divine Right of Kings ... but, today, I am sure that Queen Elizabeth is brighter than to think that any god appointed her to be Queen ...

"And the stupid Brits let her have the power."
Whoa!!! "What power?" as Singsongboi said. The British started the the idea of common people taking control, at least from the time of the Magna Carta forward. It took time, but essentially, by the time of the American Revolution, the entire basis of modern law was well laid out by England. The King still had too much power, but since that time, the Royal family have been totally curtailed ... and the PM and Parliment have all the real power. The Monarchy is there mostly for ceremonial and traditional purposes.

"Might as well be a whole country of Jehovahs witnesses."
Hope you are teasing. This is a huge slam against the British ... they are a modern mature democracy, and have often paved the way for other modern nations ... They are far from anyting like JWs ... except for the few JWs that live there ...

Following Bible principles, we will avoid trying to live - or demand others to live - by an extensive and rigid set of dos and don'ts that go beyond the teachings of the Bible. The Watchtower, 4-15-02, pg 22, pp 15

You would hope so wouldn't you?
But it was stated as true ,by a close aide of hers on the news this morning ,that this is the main reason she will not step down.Thats what prompted me to write this.
    Only repeating what he said.

    I hope your'e joking.
The Royal family enjoys vast wealth and privileges that most inhabitants of Britian can only dream of.
Correct me if I'm wrong (I'm sure English man will)But there are still many traditions related to politics that she is still activly involved with.Opening of parliment, swearing in the primeminister, meeting with him to discuss policy at certain times.T
THere is a house of Lords in Britian made up mostly of Aristocrats (people who inherit their postion due to family lines) which are still involved in passing new laws.

The brits need/love their collective illusion/delusion. After all, where would they be without it? Remember what happened during the french revolution when the kingly delusion of frances populous was shattered? The exact same thing wouldn't happen, but it demonstrates how traumatic it would be for the people to loose their mythology. Got to keep up appearances, you know.
