What was the purpose of Jesus first coming if he has to come back later and do it all over again? Why didn't he just do what he said he would the first time? It would seem as though Jesus accomplished nothing.

    A theory.
The Old Testament is pretty rough and tumble.
Not much in the way of mercy there.
The New Testament is directed at individual relationship with God (if such exists) So Christ came to inaugurate that dispensation.
The JW notion of eternal life on earth is Total crap.
Any eternal life will be in the spirit realm.
    Thats my current position. Theoretically.

Speaking of all that coming and stuff, do you know why Santa does not have any children? A: He only comes once a year, and then it's down a chimney.

Dear Forgetmenot... may you have peace... and may I respond? Thank you!

The 'first' time my Lord 'came'... it was in the flesh. And since 'the flesh is of no use at all', but is TEMPORARY... all that he did was temporary.

When he arrives again, however, it will be as the SPIRIT that he is. And since it is the SPIRIT that is 'life', and it is by means of him BEING a spirit that he grants EVERLASTING life... what he WILL do... will be everlasting.

The son of God never came the first time, so it is silly to speculate about when he will come "next."

On the contrary, he (or Paul, depending upon your point-of-view) started a movement which has been more responsible for human bloodshed, misery and stopping the advancement of science than any other movement in human history. Excepting the bloodshed caused by the God that those same Christians worship, of course.

    Farkel,

Surely you won't leave out the militerialistic atheists who are responsible for over 80 million deaths in this century alone will you?

And the fact that much science was formulated in monastaries where thinking people had time to do research seems to contradict your view of Christians not having curiosity of a scientific nature.

Life is messy. There is always someone there to control you if you let them.
