We are a family of five and are planning a one week (only) trip to North (Mid) England / South Scotland.

I have a few questions which I am grateful for your help.

First , what are MUST things (nature, castles etc) to visit in this area?

Second, since my kids (11,15,17 yrs) are not temendously interested in archeology, old castles, etc
can anybody help with some other helpful ideas to visit?

If you are first hand experience can you please recommend some good «self catering units/homes» in those
    certain (interesting) areas.

    Thankfully
