Last words

I happened to be on Facebook today, when in the message section, I see on the left a column of the latest private correspondences with various folks. One is from Bex, a former JW in my area who passed away on 12/31. Dated from 8/10, her last words to me were, “Fade well”.

That got me thinking…other people I know who have passed away over the years, I don’t remember their last words to me. Nor do I have a record of it. But somehow, this seems a reflective topic.

What are the last words that a person spoke to you, before they passed away?

Sister 1. I can't believe I will never get well, I wish I could just walk to the store for groceries.

Sister 2. The embarrassing silence in conversations don't bother me anymore.

Dad. I don't recognize my own voice, I can't remember who I am.

    Wife. Go back to college.

What would I say ? ...in this mood...don't sweat the small stuff and All stuff is small stuff.

    Shalom

Thanks guys, Dad and sister last year within 3 months, wife and other sister over ten years ago, all to cancer except Dad he was 85.

We all know it is a reality, but tasting it up close is quite different. It makes me appreciate all the more that a loving God in Christ tasted death also in order to bring us to the freedom that almost every storey in the Bible portrays. Freedom from the slavery in Egypt, slavery to law, slavery to Babylon, and ultimately freedom from slavery to sin and death.

Shalom dear friends in Him who makes it possible !

My uncle who died last summer .... "go out there and prove your mother wrong ... get your health in order and be happy!" Miss you, uncle E.

My grammy was in the hospital, and I was taking the bus to see her every day after work. At the time, I was doing industrial cleaning at a particularly dirty project - a retail store that had smoke damage. I was covered with soot. When I walked into the room and said hi, Grammy (who wasn't wearing her glasses) replied "Are you a coloured lady? I don't think I know you." "Grammy, it's me, Jen. I'm just dirty from work." She laughed, and we had a big hug. Fifteen minutes later she died. Grammy was one of the best people I ever knew, and though she died many years ago, I miss her to this day. (and no, she was not a JW)

I can't find the last thing Bex said, but we were talking about birds. Miss her so much! RIP my beautiful sister. I feel you with me often.

Wikiquotes says it's probably apocryphal, but I've always enjoyed these "last words" erroneously attributed to Pancho Villa:

"Don't let it end like this. Tell them I said something."
