I imagine the Judge was getting pretty thirsty in that prison cell and realized what he truly missed on the outside-- he was ready to grovel to the courts for clemency to get his freedom-

Did this letter have any effect ? Or did someone in the Presidents office bin it ?
I know that the release of these poor "innocent" petitoners came about because the Courts decided that as the war was over, nothing was to be gained by persuing the case.
These guys were not, as the WT once claimed, exonerated, nor were they pardoned, they were simply released for practical and financial reasons.
