The UK Independent reports that a NK rocked fired last night appears to have failed a short time after firing. They cited Chinese and US reports of the failure.

    QUOTE:

North Korea's widely anticipated and controversial launch of its long-range rocket was said by the US to have failed last night, with China reporting the rocket had been seen falling into the sea after taking off.

News of the rocket being fired was announced by Kim Min-seok, a spokesman for South Korea's Defence Ministry, who told reporters in a nationally televised news conference that it was launched at 7.39am local time, though there was no word from Pyongyang about the launch.

The United Nations Security Council said it would discuss the launch at 1pm BST today.

The launch had long been expected but its timing came as something of a surprise as fierce winds whipping across the Korean peninsula had apparently forced Pyongyang to delay.

I checked some Chinese news outlets ( The People's daily, Global Times and CCTV ) - all English, web based editions, and saw no mention of the failure, at least at the time I checked.

If true, young Kim is wet all over from pissing into the wind.

Another UK Independent report on NK, claims that Chinese living on the border refer to young Kim Jong-eun, as:

    Quote:

On the Chinese side of the border there is little respect for the North's new leader, Kim Jong-un, the third generation of the Kim family to run the secretive nation. People refer to him as Kim San-wang ("King Kim the Third") or Jin Sanpang ("Kim the Third Fatty").

    Unquote.

The full article is worth reading, it helps us to understand how NK, got into this mess.

There is a very sizable population of ethnic Koreans living on the Chinese side of the border. Modern borders often cut through ethnic populations. These people often have relatives across the bordere in NK.

    Thank you, Indian Larry.

That threw me for minute also. The situation is still very unstable.

Not unstable at all. The NKs are only shouting loudly in order to get aid. If they are met with a tiny bit of respect and negotiation ends in "if you scrap your plans, you'll get rice and petrol" then it all cools down - until the next US/SK military drill.

But not unstable - Kim III has nothing. Even the rockets are empty plywood things covered with aluminium sheets. If you watch closely at the ones shown in parades, you will notice they are dissimilar from each other, have small bumps etc - and would not last many seconds if tried to be launched.
