'She had a gift for helping people' nothing finer could be said of someone. Mary joined Ms magazine in the early 1970s and rose to become executive editor and stayed for 20 years. Mary then wrote about the life of fellow feminist and politician Bella Abzug and a 25 year retrospective of Ms magazine. She was the editor in chief of the Women's Media Center.

Activisim was part of her core, during her college years she became a fundraiser for the antiwar Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee.

She loved baseball, and she loved motorcycles and her passing was the result of taking her favorite motorcycle out for a spring run, she was just 68.

    RIP

My mom suscribed to Ms. I read Ms. as a teenager. I remember thinking that all people needed liberating. I told my mom that, too. "Don't men need liberation, too?" We had the draft going on. It seemed there was a lot of pressure on boys and men to be macho. I felt like we were all captive to social mores.
