Doesn't this letter blame the elders for fueling the wrong expectations about 1975? (Dutch translators please verify!) . Here is the Dutch Letter translation we received. . --------------------------------------------------------------- "Could it be that the unfulfilled expectations around the year 1975 still play you tricks? Are you shocked that perhaps elders have fueled the wrong expectation? This should indeed never have happened because Jesus explicitly said: "From that day or the hour nobody knows, neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but the Father. "But, dear brother or sister, should mistakes made rob you of your joy to be able to serve God? Besides, what substantial errors are made? Did the brothers give you wrong advice by saying to live as though the final end of this world could come every day ? Jesus indeed, said: "That day comes suddenly, in a instantly upon you. . . as a snare. For it will come upon all those dwelling upon the whole earth. Keep awake " (Luke 21:34-36). Also there were sometimes rumors in the early Christian church about the imminent end, but if it is not proved to be true, would that then say that everything one was being taught suddenly was not correct? Of course not. They knew better then and we must know better now. Everything in the world we see that by God's spirit recorded prophecies are true. At the exquisite spiritual food in the organization we notice how the remnant received God's help and guidance. "Let we therefore do not give up what is fine, for in due season we shall reap if we do not get tired "-. Gal.
    6:9." . . . . . . . . . Nevada

There's one of their favorite words...."perhaps"

Yep they will blame everyone else always with no clear apology ever printed.

    Thanks for posting this.

    The translation is correct.

The statement "Everything in the world we see that by God's spirit recorded prophecies are true" is awkward. Better: 'By everything in the world we see that the recorded prophecies inspired by God's spirit are true.'

And in the paragraph following [the translated excerpt], the Society begins by suggesting that one may have lost joy in the Service because of complaints toward the Brothers and Sisters... [they do not consider the possibility that one may have become disillusioned with the Society and no longer wish to spread the Society's message] They encourage further zealous field service by stating: " Don't allow anything to hold you back from remaining a joyful preacher of the Kingdom of Heaven. With the Prize so close, we cannot and may not take the chance."

(Nearly forty years after 1975, this sounds a bit ridiculous.)

Maybe I am getting bitter, but don't piss on me and tell me it's raining. They are masters at throwing a red herring across the trail. " We should be living every day like the end could come at any minute, so what substantial errors were made?"

If you are a Christian, then yes, you try to imitate Christ every day. That does not excuse real errors that harm people. Woe to you if you stumble one of Christ's sheep! I would be much more lenient of they did not beat thier fellow slave for not totally agreeing with the latest incarnation of truth. If they were not so legalistic that would change my opinion as well. The lack of humility is astounding! Do they just really not realize what they are doing?!?
