A while ago there was discussion on this board about people who hear voices within their heads. Some of the posts stated that this was a sign of mental illness, others said a sign of inspiration. For me, Joan Baez is one of the sanest people on the planet.

There is an article in today's NY Times about the folk singer Joan Baez. It shows where she gets her inspiration. I find this interesting. For me, Joan Baez is one of the sanest people on the planet.

She does not want to write songs anymore, preferring to concentrate on poetry. She fills bound notebooks with her poems, which she says come to her in distinct voices, like that of a black woman she calls Alice and a teenage boy from Germany, Yasha.

"I have enough for a book," she said. "It's good poetry."

No offense but it sounds like multiple personalities to me, but what do I know...

When I use to write poetry and lyrics in the sixtyies and seventienties when I went to bed I dreamed the music in color, it was lost due to I wasn't a musician.

The point Is the more you do of something the more obsesse your subconscience becomes.

Joan has spent 40 + years being obsessed in her gift of music; therefore, she has developed or fine tuned her love into special segments which expresses the thoughs of different cultures through special imaginary friends.

sure, sounds sane to me. I'm sure the drugs in the 60's didn't contribute a bit to this either.
