I was talking to my JW daughter the other day and she surprisingly asked me what I believe now. I stated I am now atheist and my reasons. Among other things she asked 'what is the purpose of life, then?' I replied life doesn't have to have a purpose just because we want there to be one. We did metion cults, although out of respect for her feelings I generalised and referred to Steven Hassan's experiences with the moonies. How cult leaders are in it for personal gain at the sometimes lethal expense of their captive members. I replied to her question about what the watchtower(R) leaders are in it for. I stated the JW GB are in it for power, money and a cushy lifestyle. She replied she doesn't even know who the GB are so it's silly to think she gives the GB power and money. I've heard this from others too. It's as if many JWs think they are worshipping Jehovah(TM) without realising it is actually the paedophile loving GB they are worshipping. Very cult!! The GB may be hiding in plain sight....?

They think Hey! I dont give them power! But they do every time that they blindly obey a non biblical rule or policy. Doing this they think they are obeying Jehovah, because the GB has made the Organization synonomous with God himself. Dubs honestly think they are inseperable because the WT told them so.
If they obey the oral sex rule for instance. Not in the Bible, so the power has gone to the GB because what you do or dont do is directly related to whatever they decide on. The power is not with the individual as they have given up their power of thought and conscience to a small group of men.
This is further proof that this is indeed a CULT

Oubliette - She thinks the CONtributions are used to spread the word thus saving lives. The delusion is strong....but I know how that feels. Having said that there was always a voice that nagged at me telling me something was wrong......I ignored it! ........... for so long at least.
