Forgive me if I have missed any previous post about this .What a tragic loss of life of people who are trying to protect the property of others from fire.
The fact that 19 lives were lost in one incident is just horrific .I just wish I could express my greif to the family and freinds of these individuals , heroes one and all ,.....from Australia

Yes, and so tragic for not only the families but the one guy who survived. The picture of the group together is very poignant.

It is a tragic story. These men and women are truly brave in what they do. They all attempted to use special foil blankets to protect themselves. The survivor from what I have heard on news reports was the "spotter" It was his job to survey what was happening and maneuver the firefighters when needed. I imagine this is hitting him extremely hard.
It just so happened I was chatting with a firefighter just the other day. He told me there are more fatalities in the US than Canada because of the lack of a single protocol. In Canada, the firefighter has a "safe spot" picked out (I think I have that right). This is anectodal.
I can hardly look at it. It's so tragic. It is so sad.
Extremely tragic, very sad. Most if not all of these young people in their 20's I believe. I cannot even imagine the horrific sadness among their families and friends. So many young lives that will never know what it is to grow older in life with many more life experiences. My wife and I send out our condolences and our hearts to their families.
