It takes approximately two pounds of starch to prepare your body to get it stiff enough to do street work properly. We would starch our bodies up so much that we could step three feet away from a building, lean back so that our bodies were at a 45 degree angle to the sidewalk and our spines would still be straight as an arrow! Back when I did it, starch was pretty cheap, but the cost of starch has risen dramatically in recent years.
It's the starch. It just costs too damn much to make street work practical these days.

Beans - up until I participated 3-4 years ago, street witnessing - a/k/a standing there holding the mags, was discouraged in favor of seeking out potential victims at bus stops, etc. wherever people gathered. You are right, its becoming more and more rare spotting street witnessing dubs.
Farkel - you never fail to disappoint! Thanks for the afternoon coffee coming out my nose from laughter!

I posted yesterday, on one of the other threads, that here they prefer "Drive-by Field Service" where one of the Pubs drives tha car and the other one holds the mags out of the window.

They're hunting people down in parking lots at Walmart. Notice, they're not doing it at Lord and Taylor.
Beans, why don't you do some apostate street witnessing? I'd like video of that...lol
Crazy is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
The plans for Apostate Witnessing are underway, the summer will hold many surprises and updates!

When we were in Hawaii in 1987, we visited friends on the Big Island, Hawaii. They told us they drive down the long driveways, and yell "yoo hoo", to get people to come to them. The problem there was dogs and drug dealers........er, growers. I can't imagine doing that kind of service. Of course it all sounds bizarre now.

Good question Beans!
Nice words eye view regarding the starch Iarc. The absolute worst place I went "door to door" was on the beach! There was a brother about my age who later went to Bethel who somehow got me to work the main street of our city. Then we followed that up with Beach witness.
This guy had the spirit. The one good thing I can say that came from that is ever since then I have had zero fear of man. I wonder why. Could it be not much of anything more awkward wearing a suit with dress shoes, handing out tracts and witnessing to people laying on their beach towels and bar-b-queing?
Insane.
