Just wondering if anybody wants to take a stab in the dark or an estimated guess at how much the WT is paying out on sex abuse cases. This includes legal bills as well. If you could also state your reasons at how you came to your conclusion. The winner (that's if they ever reveal it) gets the privilege of been able to have a beer with me. Oh shit now no one is going to have a guess. Hehe.
Estimations for WT pay outs

Don't they have free legal representation provided by lawyers who are in the WT? So that eliminates labor as an expense, if so.

Yes but they also contract work out to other (typically JW) lawyers. I know a couple attorneys who get work from the WTS. They pay the full rate - no discounts.
A lot of it has to do with wills, estates, etc. JWs die and leave all their stuff to the WTS all the time. Another big chunk is child custody cases.
So yeah, the WTS does have "free legal representation" from the lawyers who live in Bethel but it's not nearly enough for all they need. For example, a lawyer living in NY is likely not licensed to practice law in other states.

That makes sense Sir82 - they probably really DO spend huge amounts on lawyers all over the world.

i estimate $100,000 to $500,000 for most, very rarely any over $1 mil, and I doubt any cases are over $3 mil. no real reasons for these guesses, just my personal estimates. we'll likely never know the real amounts.

You know things are messed up when God needs laywers to protect his assets from people who were sexually abused as children.
