Normal family affections and dealings?

Today I added a new article to my blog. It helps readers explore and better understand the world of Watchtower and what it considers “normal”. In this case, what does Watchtower mean when it speaks of “normal family affections and dealings”?

That was the most disgusting talk I have ever heard! They have institutionalized hypocrisy. This policy is nothing short of emotional blackmail and social coercion.

JWs whine the loudest when a new study's family tries to talk them out of becoming a Witness. Persecution! "Oh, your family is so cruel." But they turn around and do the same exact thing when one of their own wants to leave the fold.

What may have started out with an honest and sincere desire to understand the Bible and serve God has devolved into a currupt, mind-controlling cult run by lawyers and bean-counters. Any self-respecting god would be giving them the finger...

This kind of "hate speech" seems likely to risk some Governments (not the US) taking legal action against them. Is that what they WANT to happen? Is this an effort to bring on "persecution"? Often JWs stand up better against an direct attack than the more subtle temptations. Are they hoping to create a new "Enemy" so there is something to rally the troops against?

The speaker at the DC that I attended toned down the message, although it was still bad. It's so unjust towards those who live such moral lives, but, because they will openly express that they don't want to agree with some, not all of the teachings of the GB.

What is the harm done?

Hiding behind the concept that this is the devine will, is irreprehensible. It goes to show you to what length they will go to get their way in their war against freedom of thouht.

My JW family seeths that I am outspoken against the JWs. They still communicate with me, in that passive-agressive way. I was never baptised, so they don't shun me. And, when they need help, they come a running to me. Honestly, I wish they'd just shun me outright some days. I'd cope easier. Sometimes, I want to be rid of them and their stupid charades.

I just wanted to make sure you realize you don't have to be a baptized JW in order to be shunned, right? If you're considered an 'apostate' (someone who publicly speaks against the JWs and their preaching work, or even anonymously over the internet on sites like this), then you can be shunned whether you were ever baptized or not.

Your family must not be uber-JWs, if they aren't shunning you now, since they'd be at risk of being DFed and shunned for THEIR failure to shun a known apostate. I suspect if it got out beyond the immediate family (i.e. the general public, but defo within the congregation) that you were an apostate spreading TTATT, there'd be growing pressure on them to shun you or be shunned....

With JWs, it's all about trying to control others, and to shut them up whether baptized or not; you're OK, in their book, just as long as you keep your "dirty and diseased" apostate thoughts to yourself!

Now isn't THAT the perfect example of "ABnormal family affections and dealings", LOL?
