I was listening to an episode of radiolab on blood. I thought the last section would be interesting to JWs. Its about the big business of selling blood. They would definitely use this as propaganda to refuse donating.

Here in the U.K donations are voluntary, all you get is a drink and a packet of crisps if you want it.

By coincidence, I donated just two hours ago, so I am not allowed to do anything too strenuous for a while, I told Mrs Phizzy that includes washing-up, hoovering etc, but not lifting my right arm and drinking a beer, that is done on Doctors orders, must take in fluids !

The JW's attitude to donation is disgustingly super-hypocritical. They will take fractions of blood that we have donated, Apostate Blood !!!! but not donate themselves.

They claim that blood should not be stored, where is this in Acts or anywhere in the N.T ? Do they think those fractions were not stored ?

I know that Jehovah's Witness and Logic should not appear in the same sentence, but their stance on this, since they abandoned "abstain" from blood, is utterly stupid and downright theft if you ask me, they have no moral right to the fractions if they are unwilling to donate, IMHO.

They also love to pick on anything that seems to support their refusal to save lives by a proven medical treatment, anything that puts transfusions in a bad light medically, and yet they say their stand is not on medical, but religious grounds, so how is a medical problem with blood a validation of their stand ? no logic again.

    1. I love Radio Lab.

    2. Did they talk about what percentage of blood donations go to which uses? I once read/heard that something like 75%+ of donated blood is used for uses other than transfusions (anti-venom, vaccines, etc.). Back when this was fresher in my mind I would occassionally mention it to other JWs and follow it up with something like "does that mean JWs could donate blood if it was guaranteed your blood was being used for pharmaceutical purposes, and not transfusions?" Their response was always funny to watch, because if they say "no", they sound like a selfish idiot because they would/can except any of the products derived from all that donated blood; if they say "yes", it would be tantamount to accepting a straight blood transfusion in many JW's eyes.

Selling toilets and I-pads are big buisiness too, dubs use both, sometimes they use an I-pad on the toilet. Cars too. Starbucks... Anything consumed is part of " Big Business." That would be a weak argument on their part.

I have seen in the Marvin Shilmer website that a witness received a letter saying that witnesses ARE allowed now to donate blood, as long as they make sure that their blood is used to replenish the fractions they have taken. I am sure that very few or no JW's know about this, but if somehow the letter can be made known to more people, and maybe someone can publicly donate blood just for the purpose of making this letter known... Maybe say that conscienciously, that person cannot take the blood from others and then not give back.

Idk just throwing this out there... anyone?

JW's are quite literally parasites. They are happy to to use up the blood that others have donated, but they will not contribute any themselves.

They are taking advantage of the good grace of their fellow humans. This is a completely morally bankrupt position, an absolutely disgusting double standard. The jw's wrap themselves up in a cocoon of self-righteousness and an insufferable attitude of superiority when in actual fact they are nothing more than slimy leeches sucking the life blood from society.

Blood donation is voluntary here in Canada, too, and is run by a non-profit (Red Cross).

I would love to see a letter from the WT explaining what "I love TTAT" said above, what convoluted "logic" would they use in that ?????

Here in the U.K such a missive would have no effect of course, when you donate blood here, you donate it, you don't make arrogant conditions on how it is used.

You agree that the N.H.S. can use the blood as they se fit, which I for one am pleased to agree to, they are not going to use it for harm are they, however they use it ?

What I would be amused to see happen, is me "outed" for donating blood, and the local Gestapo, sorry, Elders try to DF me or whatever for doing it.

Boy, would there be some adverse publicity then !
