I used to take 1200 mg of lecithin daily. There were no ill effects. When I was taking the lecithin, my body was better proportioned. It emulsifies fat.

My uncle and his wife were childless. After taking Lecithin and Vitamin E (my uncle) they ended up having a boy and a girl. True story. Don't know which one did the trick. Might have been a combination of the two. So beware!

Wow ... lecithin ... brings back memories from when I was a child.

I remember my grandparents would not eat anything containing lecithin since it could be derived from blood. They always checked the labels on anything they ate to make sure it was not included in the ingredients.

After they died I remember it was considered a conscience matter when it was learned that most of it was derived from plants. But still, my grandparents would never touch it.

    From wikipedia,

"Lecithin has emulsification and lubricant properties, and is a surfactant. It can be totally metabolized (see Inositol) by humans, so is well tolerated by humans and nontoxic when ingested..."

If it is totally metabolized, it won't build up in your blood.

Here's a "rule of thumb". Any supplement that is an element/metal, has the potential to build up in your system and can be toxic if you have too much of it. This includes iron, zinc, copper, and lithium.

I don't know if any other ex dubs on here can remember a talk back at an assembly in the 1970's that said Lecithan was a nice word for blood used by manufacturers. My parents would not eat or allow us to eat products that listed lecithan on thier ingrediants.
