    From the UK Independent:

In 1953 a coup overthrew the elected government of Dr Mossadegh. The release of declassified governments has revealed what much of the rest of the world already suspected, that the CIA engineered the coup and installed a 18 year dictatorial rule by the Shah, whose deep unpopularity eventually led to his overthrow and the presesnt Islamist regime.

The question come to mind then, how is it that these highly paid, American public servants, can do things that are not only illegal and unethical, but have such bad results. Its not only Iran, but Afghanistan, where the election of a socialist government led to the USA arming militant Muslims to overthrow that government. The overthrow of the Morsi government in Egypt but the USA supported Egyptian Army is likely to have similar results in the future.

In the Iran example, it was not only teh Americans that were at fault, but the British also. In fact, the British wanted Mossadegh out, because he wanted a better deal for Iran than they were getting from the unequal deals organised when Britain controlled much of West Asia. The Brits were dependent on Iranian oil to fuel their Navy, and were in a parlous financial state ( a synonym for heading toward national bankruptcy). Unable to organise a coup themselves, they asked the CIA to do it for them. The CIA were happy to oblige and hey! presto, a military coup and the return of the dictatorial Shah.

His overthrow by the Mullahs led to the USA arming Saddam Hussein to go to war with Iran, and American support for Saddam (he was their baby, until he got too big for his boots and finished up dead). Think of all the dead American kids, killed in Iraq, because of the stupidity of the American elite.

How much tax money, (that could have been spent on the aging American infrastructure) belonging to American tax payers has been spent in all these West Asia military adventures?

Yeah, we have seen what US intervention has done for us as regards Iran and Afghanistan. When a military coup removes the democratically elected leaders (whether we like them much or not), the results are never good. Some Egyptians didn't like Morsi, but MANY westerners were totally freaked out by the fact that he was MB and a beard wearing Muslim. I think they helped with the military coup, but I could be wrong--I will say though that I think this one will be bad for egypt-not because of Islamists(well, some of them will certainly cause grief), but because military coups rarely end well and even though some were nervous of Morsi, he had not stooped to the mubarak levels of abuse of power and didn't seem inclined to. I heard about the Mubarak Egypt-I was closely associated with Muslims who notonly supported him, but still do-but they are not radicals, they are not alqaeda and they are no afraid that this new govt won't even let them leave the country. . .for the same reasons they feared living in Egypt under Mubarak-You have a beard at all and you are labeled as a threat. After Mubaraks ouster, the men felt they could grow a beardwitout being persecuted (yes, they were persecuted in big ways and small) . Now they will be regarded and treated as a radical islamist simply for having had the beard. These are men who refused to join the MB or other groups not only becaause they had different thoughts on some issues, but because they didn/t want to be beholden to any party, but to support the things they fully beleived in, regardless of party. So, now it is mid august and you just had a coup. Which neighbor is going to report you for a beard because they think the new militarist government might subject their family to less abuse if they do so? That is the regime they lived under with the Mubarak dictatorship. Egypt is gonna have a rough road ahead.
