My partner and I both grew up JW and our parents are all still in. We have been together for several years, but are not married. We are wondering what we should do to make sure that in the event that one of us needed a blood transfusion and was unable to make the decision themselves, the other would be able to make the decision, rather than that responsiblity being given to our parents (who would deny a transfusion). Anyone gone through this process themselves?
What should we do to make sure we receive a blood transfusion?

It is going to depend on the laws where you reside so I recommend you both meet with an attorney. I live in the US and my boyfriend and I drew up medical directives spelling out the medical decisions we entrusted to the other.
