    Watchtowers brief due today?

Can anyone explain to me how to get the briefs from the Californian Court website? I need to direct a JW to the website to get the breifs but not really sure how to get them myself.

The briefs are not made publicly available online by the court. They are available online at the jwleaks site, and I believe AAWA also obtained and posted the Conti appeal brief.

    Zound,

The briefs are not available on the court's website. Copies can be obtained at the courthouse via an "attorneys service" for a fee. Copies are also available online on certain legal databases but there is a substantial charge for using these services.

Edited to add: Zound, I did not see Chaserious' post before posting this; the sites referenced in it are good places to check, but wait until a few days after you see on the court's website that the brief has actually been filed. It will take them some time to get the brief and post it.

One of those legal database might be "Lexis/Nexis" L/N has a lower-cost option suited to SERIOUS individuals (what I mean is serious enough to be willing to pay a small fee. Anyone who expects roasted pigeons to fly into into their mouths (e.g. everything is free) is SOL, and deservedly so.

Go to http://www.lexis.com and look at "credit card access".

144,001 is correct about the brief that's due this week. They probably won't have it for a few days at least. I meant that the two opening briefs have already been obtained by jwleaks and posted there. As for legal databases like Lexisnexis and Westlaw, I do have access to these but the Conti briefs did not get posted there, and usually will not be made available for state appeals cases. They typically will only put the eventual written opinion of the appeals court in the database. Sometimes they have the briefs available for federal appeals cases. Just didn't want anyone to waste their time trying to open an account for this.

Thanks. That source is enough - I won't be actually getting it from there but at least so I can tell them where it can be obtained (avoiding 'apostate' sites). I've got all the transcripts from JWleaks.

So the brief due today should be available in a few days - looking forward to it.
