    Help me reverse witness!

What would you say in reply to the daily text of September 4th, 2013? Please help me to comment on it on a JW forum, pretending to come from the angle of a Christian who does not believe in JW's:

There will also be false teachers among you.—2 Pet. 2:1.

How do false teachers operate? Their methods reveal a cunning spirit. Apostates “quietly bring in” corruptive ideas. Like smugglers, they operate in a clandestine manner, subtly introducing apostate views. And just as a clever forger tries to pass phony documents, so apostates use “counterfeit words,” or false arguments, trying to pass their fabricated views as if they were true. They spread “deceptive teachings,” “twisting . . . the Scriptures” to fit their own ideas. (2 Pet. 2:1, 3, 13; 3:16) Clearly, apostates do not have our best interests at heart. Following them would only divert us from the road that leads to eternal life. How can we protect ourselves? The Bible’s counsel regarding how to deal with them is clear. (Rom. 16:17; 2 John 9-11) “Avoid them,” says God’s Word. Other translations render that phrase “turn away from them,” “keep away from them,” and “stay away from them!” w11 7/15 2:5, 6

    Texts used:

However, there also came to be false prophets among the people, as there will also be false teachers among YOU . These very ones will quietly bring in destructive sects and will disown even the owner that bought them, bringing speedy destruction upon themselves.

Also, with covetousness they will exploit YOU with counterfeit words. But as for them, the judgment from of old is not moving slowly, and the destruction of them is not slumbering.

wronging themselves as a reward for wrongdoing.

They consider luxurious living in the daytime a pleasure. They are spots and blemishes, indulging with unrestrained delight in their deceptive teachings while feasting together with YOU .

speaking about these things as he does also in all [his] letters. In them, however, are some things hard to understand, which the untaught and unsteady are twisting, as [they do] also the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction.

Now I exhort YOU , brothers, to keep your eye on those who cause divisions and occasions for stumbling contrary to the teaching that YOU have learned, and avoid them.

Everyone that pushes ahead and does not remain in the teaching of the Christ does not have God. He that does remain in this teaching is the one that has both the Father and the Son. If anyone comes to YOU and does not bring this teaching, never receive him into YOUR homes or say a greeting to him. For he that says a greeting to him is a sharer in his wicked works.

This will be ridiculously hard to reverse-witness to, but there are some smart people here.

    Thanks!

Hi ILoveTTATT, I love your passion, but I don't feel that a JW forum will be very receptive to your reverse witnessing.

As long as you are willing to be respectfully, ask simply questions, and don't get frustrated with circular logic and talking to a wall, I would suggest using Bible scriptures and Steve Hassan's methods to reach a JW's authentic persona. I would not recommend getting into debates with JWs, because they believe that they know everything and that you know nothing because you will be passing yourself off as a christian.

How do you feel they might respond if you ask them what characteristics do false teachers or false prophets possess? Get them to provide details and do not accept general statements by them. Ask them more questions about their answers, so that you draw out their authentic persona instead of their cult persona. Answer their questions using examples from the Bible. I would also recommend that you use http://www.biblegateway.com/ to quickly do word searches to locate applicable Bible versus.

Your hardest task will be getting JWs to discuss one topic at a time without jumping around, because if a JW feels threatened they will avoid admitting they are wrong. If they start jumping from one topic to another or do not answer your questions, start asking them if they concede that you are right by them changing topics or not answering your questions.

Best of wishes for your efforts. Please post about your success as well as your failures.

Peace be with you and everyone, who you love,

    Robert

Like the elders at my judicial committee said: apostates like to ask questions that Jehovah's witnesses cannot answer. And that they like to plaster society's mags all over the internet which are "half truths". You will not win for if they cannot answer your questions then your done. They can't even see that Jesus is our mediator for all mankind. It's in the bible black and white word for word and they will call you an apostate to your face. It happened to hubby at the end of our lane while they waited for us to unlock the gates(2 1/2 hours later).

But hey, good luck if you go for it. Stranger things have happened

I have already been not allowed to comment on the FB page... all I care about is the few people that see these things... they read it, think about it... and the seed lies dormant.

There were many seeds lying dormant with me... they took years to germinate.

You might ask how we can know when someone is twisting the scriptures.

The correct answer is to read the scriptures in context.

The WT answer is to believe everything the GB says.

There will also be false teachers among you.2 Pet. 2:1.

Yeah, I'd have a hard time biting my tongue on that one, since it's arguably the most ironic scripture in the entire Bible since the ENTIRE BOOK of 2nd Peter stinks to High Heaven of being a fraudulent writing (the product of someone who claimed to be the then-long-dead Apostle Peter). So that scripture is the pot calling the kettle black, as if to draw away attention from it's pitch-black color.

The epistle of 2nd Peter magically appeared out of thin air it seems, and was the last book accepted into the NT canon which coincidentally patched up a few theological issues facing the early Church at the time (eg trying to squash the 'Peter vs Paul' battles, supporting the idea that Noah preached and offered salvation, and to turn Lot into a saint). I've written about these issues quite extensively on my blog:

awgue.weebly.com main page (pulldown menu is in top right to select articles on 2nd Peter vs Genesis accounts for Noah and Lot).

None of which helps you to reverse-witness on THIS scripture, mind you, as questioning the authorship of 2nd Peter itself is a big-time red flag for that screams, apostate in our midsts!, which is a pointless battle to engage in (and it would be a different matter if the daily scripture was 2nd Peter's claim about "righteous" Lot vs Genesis' account, where you say you were reading the original Genesis account of Lot and just couldn't see the righteousness of Lot; or even the claim in 2nd Peter that says Noah preached a message of salvation before the Flood, when you read the Genesis account itself which CLEARLY STATES saw God had already made up His mind EVEN BEFORE telling Noah of His plans to destroy the Earth; God cannot change His mind, can He? Both would be easy to play dumb, acting all innocent, and asking the person to resolve the discrepancy).

False teachers are propagandist’s who try to influence the community by presenting only one side of an argument. They, (propagandist’s) may make statements that are partly false and partly true. Propaganda often presents facts selectively (thus possibly lying by omission) to encourage a particular synthesis, or uses loaded messages to produce an emotional rather than rational response to the information presented. The desired result is a change of the attitude toward the subject in the target audience to further their own religious agenda. Propaganda can be used as a form of ideological warfare.
