i came across this you tube video. Most of us are aware of the subject anyway but I thought it could be of interest to anybody talking with a jw about the date of the destruction of Jerusalem. On page 55 of the 'Jeremiah' book, the writers clearly try and associate Dr Mazar with the 607 date by careful use of the words, its skilfully crafted to make the reader think Dr Mazar agrees with the 607 date. If you watch the video you can see that Dr Mazar clearly states that the date of destruction was 586 bce. In the 'Jeremiah' book, the way its written on p55,this a clear example of wt deception, the point is that this deception is aimed at the rank and file witness as that is who the book is mainly written for. Zechariah chapter 7 proves 607 wrong.
verse 1 says it was in the fourth year
of King Darius and their own Book "vol.1
under King Darius the Persian shows
his Fourth year is 518. Now Verse 4-5
says "they fasted in the fifth and seventh month for
70 years. 2Kings 25 verses 8-9 show the fifth month
when King Nebuchadnezzar burnt the Temple.
Verse 25 shows the seventh month was
when Gedaliah and his men were killed.
Verse 5 of Zechariah says they weeped for 70 years.
WTS says 607 for Jerusalem They weeped that year and the next
down to 518=90 years. History says 587,they weeped that year
down to 5i8= 70 years,like the Bible and History says.
