Actually, it was most probably some type of Indian/Arabic 'curry', which in that region is RED in color, unlike the Carribean/African curry which is green, and Chinese/Asian, which is yellow/gold.

Sounds to me like they were eating Mexican food.
My kids call Salsa, that red stuff. If only he had asked for more chips and a margarita, then we would have known for sure.
