In the Reasoning from the Scriptures under religion is

"Is belonging to an organized religion necessary?" (I'll put my comments in parenthesis)

    It says....

Most religious organizations have produced bad fruitage. It is not the fact that groups are organized that is bad. But many have promoted forms of worship that are based on false teachings ((Jesus return 1874, 1914, generation, FDS, etc)) and are largely ritualistic ((counting field service time, placing magazines, being at meetings)) instead of providing genuine spiritual guidance; they have been misused to control the lives of people ((Told not ot have children, to sell their homes, to not get college education or plan for retirement)) for selfish objectives; they have been overly concerned with money collections ((Dec 15, 2013 WT, recent major emphasis on giving more money)) and ornate houses of worship ((Constant pressure on kingdomhalls to remodel for no good reason and get more debt)) instead of spiritual values; their members are often hypocritical. ((Theocratic warfare lying, not holding themselves to the same standards as to others)) Obviously no one who loves righteousness would want to belong to such an organization. But true religion is a refreshing contrast to all of that. Nevertheless, to fulfill the Bible’s requirements, it must be organized.

Here is another GEM from the Reasoning book, also under Religion.....

How can a person know which religion is right?

    1. On what are it's teachings based? Are they from God, or are they largely from men? (2 Tim. 3:16; Mark 7:7) - (Does not the WT teach that they are NOT inspired and they are but imperfect men, so they blame it's members if they are let down when those imperfect teachings from MEN didn't come about??)

    UNDER JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES

How is the work of Jehovah's Witnesses financed?

By voluntary contributions, as was true with the early Christians. (2 Cor. 8:12; 9:7) No collections are ever taken at their meetings; they do not beg for money from the public. (if not begging, what would you call the 12/15/13 WT on making sacrifices?)
