(For those that don't know, Mario Puzo was the author who wrote The Godfather)
Listening to the show Biography on TV's A&E channel as I'm working here this evening, and heard the following:
"Mario's father became a Jehovah's Witness, dissappearing for days at a time." (The show went on to describe the hardship this created for the family, with the kids haveing to help to earn money.
Then, just as I typed the above paragraph, the show continued:
"In 1932 Mario's father was committed to a mental hospital. The Puzo family never talked about him again."
Of course, this just begs the causal solution: Did Mario Puzo's father join the Jehvoah's Witnesses because he was crazy, or did becoming a JW make him crazy? HHHHHHMMMMMMMMM.......
(Note: the JW purists will note that Mario Puzo's father couldn't have been a JW in the 1920s and 1930s, since the cult didn't take that name until the late 1930s. However, it is unlikely that the Biography show would make the distinction between "Internation Bible Students" and "Jehovah's Witnesses", especially since JWs don't!)
