is 100 years a long time?

JWs concept of time is definitley bizarre. On a website recently some brothers argued that if the end didn't come for another 100 years then that was not really a long time.

JWs always look at time in relation to God's supposed standard of a 1000 years being just one day but perhaps they should revise their estimates to human timescales.

Human life expectancy is on average 70 to 80 years. Some may be lucky to last the full 100 years but not many. Since the advice is to remain single then this is a problem since if you die before the end then you are resurrected but do not marry.

Human fertility in women lasts 20 to 25 years for safe conception. As the organisation does not want you to have children in this system then you have to hope that it comes sooner then later since if time runs out you may never have children.

Worklife lasts around 40 to 50 years in which you need to provide for your families needs. If we are looking at 100 years then it is an old age of poverty that they have to look forward to.

If the society is pushing back it's deadline then it appears callous and inhumane to demand people sacrifice their whole lives to a cause that they cannot expect to see come to fruition in their lifetime. But then this religion does not care for the people they merely wish to continue peddling the myth for money.

Just remember for us 24hrs is one day not a thousand years and 100 years is longer than most of us have left. No generation last 200 years.

The WTBTS needs to ALWAYS maintain a sense of urgency, but that's hard to do, without setting any specific dates. Hence backpeddling must be done gradually and slowly, since any sudden changes will likely throw off some of the older long-time JWs who remember the heightened sense of urgency and promises, circa 1975. Hence no sudden changes or lurches, as they many lose some along for the ride:
