Blackson takes it ‘Eazy’ on Sun FM

He is Sun FM’s host presenter of Talking Culture which airs every Sunday afternoon.
He is also Raggae night and Zed Top 10 DJ on Tuesdays and Saturday nights and also presents other shows and programmes on radio. Born in Chingola on March 26 from Day Malimbula Mwansa and Maggie Kapuka Mwansa in 1991, he is the third born in a family of four with the last born being female.
Raised in Kitwe and Ndola, Blackson Eazy charmed his fans when he was on the decks in the Most Night Club, AC Landmarks, Circles, Ka-mbeba and The Treasured Night Club among others.
The aspiring TV presenter and music entrepreneur, Blackson is also an artiste manager and behind Afro Soul artiste Wezi. He attended Garneton Primary in Kitwe, Twikatane Basic in Ndola, Twalubuka Basic and Masala High School from Grade 10 to 12.
He was an active member in the Press Club at Masala Secondary and became the news Editor and later vice president. Before joining Sun FM, Blackson worked for K-FM Radio in Mansa.
His source of inspiration in art came from his late father who he describes as his pillar and mentor. “I lost my Father when I was 14, he is one person who always told me that as long as I am educated I can do arts” he said.
Blackson has been living with his mother and his siblings since the passing of his father.
Coming from a Jehovah’s Witness background, his mother has had a tough time accepting his passion for the media and the music industry.
“I come from a Jehovah’s witness family, and it took a long time for my mother to accept that my passion for the media and music is something that is in me” he said.
Blackson once recalls being beaten by his mother for dancing in public. His love for music also came with a cost as he failed all the subjects for his Grade 12 exams apart from English in which he obtained a merit.
“The love of music and the media pushed me away from concentrating at school and when time came for me to write my grade 12 exams, I failed and only managed a merit in English” he said. “However I re-sat for my exams in 2010 and I managed to have distinctions in all the subjects including English that I had to write again” he said.
Blackson said school is very important no matter how talented one can be, because one does not only learn mathematics and science from school but it also helps one to know how to deal with people of all kinds of backgrounds and that school is the foundation of all good things in life.
H e is currently managing Wezi, an Afro soul artiste. He has been an events planner and show organizer for some time and has worked with almost all the local artistes in organising their shows including B Flow, Macky2, Mampi, JK, B1 and the hilarious poet Pilato among others. He intends to open up his own business which will be hosting events and promoting talents.
“I am going to study Mass Communication and Digital Media at a certain university soon because I believe talent mixed with education is way much better” he said.
His message to the youth is that in life one has to set goals and have a time frame for achieving those goals. “work towards achieving your goals and never stop dreaming because it’s from dreams where everything comes as long as you are determined and you have faith in what you do, no one will obstruct you from becoming who you want to become” he said.
Blackson is also an advocate of an HIV/AIDS free nation and implores his fans to keep it real and abstain from sex before marriage and believes in one man one woman for the married couples.
