One of Dr. Atwill's biggest problems will be trying to explain why the overwhelming bulk of early Roman scholarship on Christianity began long after the Jews were scattered to the four corners of the earth. Talk about closing the doors after all the horses were gone! While Atwill's theory does explain why Josephus might leave a testament so favorable to Jesus, it wouldn't explain why the Arab version of the same text was so watered down. Chances are that the text was subsequently altered by later Christians as scholars have surmised all along.
