I appreciate that I'm stating the obvious to most on here, but I thought it might cause some lurkers to take a step back, and calmly consider these points.

    1. A Revised NWT was necessary, due to the Original NWT being deficient. If it was the Rolls-Royce of translations, then why change it?

Forget the GB's 'given' reason for doing so, and examine the blatant changes in many Scriptures. (and use the Kingdom Intterlinear when doing so!)

    2. The men past & present who govern your thinking on the Bible, (Governing Body) are the source of false teachings!

See all four Study articles in the Watchtower July 15th 2013 for "admissions of error" in doctrinal teachings. The past teachings are now consigned to the garbage, while the replacement teachings are "new lights". Will you have to revisit the new teachings in a few years time, and abandon them also?

"Tossed about as by waves and carried hither and thither by every wind of teaching by means of the trickery of men" springs to mind.

Or you could take Groucho Marx's stance - " These are my principles, and if you don't like them… well, I have others!".

    Nicely stated Searcher.
The scriptures which come to my mind are:

    *** Psalms 107:27 ***
They reel and move unsteadily like a drunken man, And even all their wisdom proves confused.

    *** Isa 5:18 ***
Woe to those drawing error with ropes of untruth.

    *** Galatians 2:18 ***
For if the very things that I once threw down I build up again, I demonstrate myself to be a transgressor.

    *** James 1:7, 8 ***
In fact, let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from Jehovah; he is an indecisive man, unsteady in all his ways.

At the meeting where it was released, the old NWT was never described as "deficient".

The reason given for the change is that the English language itself has changed in the past 63 years. The language has been streamlined and modernized to make it easier to read.

I think it is a fair point. The old NWT was often quite clunky and awkward to read. From the little I've read of the new one, it does seem to be a bit easier to comprehend.

Of course, the RNWT still contains most of the indefensible errors of the original (e.g. "Jehovah" in the NT, "a god" at John 1:1, "all [other] things" at Colossians chapter 1, etc.).

While reviewing the July 15 watchtower, I searched and found copies of the magazines they referenced in the "endnotes." The watchtower of February 15, 1994 is coincidentally titled, "Jehovah's Witnesses - A Cult or Ministers of God?" (Hahahaha)

The article on page 16 is called, "Tell us, when will these things be?" What a coincidence. It is full of admissions of errors, and the wording is quite similar to the recent mag. What was thought... What adjusted understanding... Adjusted view... What light is shed...

In the article on page 8, "What will be the sign of your presence?" They dissect and examine the Greek word "to'te" and twist your mind into unnatural positions, so you will once again be so confused that you finally just agree to agree With what it says it means.

The new bible, with all its commentary added, is going to be proven to be a mistake for the society. This publishing company just can't stop themselves from turning their opinions into facts and spiritual truths they have to retract. They are so drunk with power, it is amazing the blatant ways they reveal the truth about themselves. The light sure is bright, when it is pointed at the society itself.
