Interesting work. Note the Judas figure is shown with two faces, and in lieu of the usual effeminate
depiction of St. John, the artist seems to have decided to demonstrate the physical closeness of Jesus and John
as described in John's own version of the event by suggesting 'gayness' rather than effeminacy.
And, of course, being Chinese, they're finishing the meal with fruit
Compare that to this version by Jacopo Bassano.
Bassano depicts John as rather bored, but still the most honest depiction of the intimacy with Jesus, described by John at ch 13:23.
The RSV translates it:
One of his disciples, whom Jesus loved, was lying close to the breast of Jesus;
Put a woman there and you'd wonder what the relationship was?
