19 Go, therefore, and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded you. And look! I am with you all the days until the conclusion of the system of things.”

the WT claims this is a command given to Jesus apostles to spread the word of Christ (by extention right?), one so profound to hhe Wt that it encompasses its infastructure, its foundation to the works-based-salvation belief system. Now heres the problem to them 1) the NT wasnt written to rank an file, 2) they claim that those rank and file still must do what the anointed were tol to do.

If they claim Christ only meant the new cov for the 144,000 because he only gave them commission to partake in the evening meal or they were the only ones around, then by that reasoning only those annointed have been told to preach, right? on top of that he never said he commanded them to go preach, buu rther to observe the commands or commandments he gave them, particularly on LOVE.

My point is it is absolutely mental how they pick and choose things out of context to control others...its pathetic really how terribly they try and hide it.

JWs say they're the only group who follows this command, even though they're pretty much the only 'christian' group that doesn't baptise people in the name of the father, son and holy spirit.

    Oh, the irony.

DS211 - you could go and read a whole lot of 'sh*t' that's been written within the Christian religious philosophy. In this semester's study Unit on Byzantium, I've tried to get into following the arguments and counter-arguments about the nature of Christ (to keep it brief) - all of which were derived from accepting Christ to be a form of God.

    It's absolutely mind-bending!

The gospels do not reveal a fully-formed religious philosophy, in fact, Matthew, Mark, Luke are quite simplistic. It's only when you come to the John gospel, that we enter the mind of a writer who reveals exposure to Greek philosophy that we rise above the mundane.

Try to work it all out, if you desire. But you won't find a reasoned, layered explanation of a divine purpose.

    Haven't you heard?

Their escape clause for your argument is just 2 little words: "by extension".

It's like a get out of jail free card. Just add "by extension" and any rule they want to apply to the non-anointed magically applies.

When Jesus passed the bread & wine, they were NOT anointed, and when later he gave the command to make disciples, baptize they still had the earthly, Davidic kingdom hope ? The teaching at that points had only HINTS of a heavenly symbolic meaning?

so was not the teaching open to change?

Romans chapter 2... Why the need to make every person know? They have a law in their hearts. It's counted the same.

I used to know one of the 144,000 but she became ill and felt too much under pressure and so gave it up. How do they come to think that they are one of the 144,000?

DS211, you are right about the picking and choosing . What about the teaching that says that some will be apostles , some teachers etc ie that each will have a distinct part to play in the Body of Christ (Ro 12 4-8) not that everyone goes door to door . If that applies only to the 144000 do they have these gifts from the Holy Spirit ? or are they just expected to go door to door like all the plebs ?

Do you see what I mean ? even what they say applies to the 144000 doesn't when it suits the WT . O.K. they reckon that the gifts of the Spirit died out with the apostles but 1Cor 13:9 says " but when perfection comes the imperfect disappears " so when did perfection come so that the imperfect disappeared ?
