Why didn't God wait a couple of days...

To send Jesus down here. If, as JWs believe, a thousand years is but a day to Jehovah - literally - then if he would have waited a couple of days, imagine the media coverage Jesus could've had if he were here today. What a way to get the message of salvation out - if you had real live coverage and VERIFIABLE proof of a man performing the sorts of things that Bible writers claim Jesus did WOW!!, what a fine witness that would be.

Hold on, I think I can hear a rock calling out...

Faith is the belief in the things not beheld, but anticipated and I can't remember the rest.

If Jesus performed miracles now, you'd all be saying it was a David Copperfield thing....

We'll neva win a round with you and I guess we don't want to...it's not us doing the fighting or the judging anyways....

Miracles are something we'd all be grateful for I'm certain. Trouble is all we have here is an organization that makes one false prophecy after another, right Vi? I mean they haven't gotten one right yet, right??

So I wouldn't compare Christ to the WTBTS. Or maybe you aren't, just seemed like you lumped Christ in with a complaint about the WTBTS.

I think miracles happen everyday, but go unnoticed. No miracles from the Watchtower, mind you, but miracles everywhere in life. The conception and growth of a child in the mothers womb is a miracle to me. Millions of cells forming at the same time and each goes to it's right place.

I saw things happen in Vietnam that couldn't be anything but a miracle. So many guys, so many close calls, too many to be mere happen chance. Maybe I am naive, but I do believe miracles happen and always will.

But, God's patience is another thing. I really doubt he is waiting upon the JWs to finish their outreach of preaching. They are not the only ones. In fact, last I heard, the Mormons have outpaced the JWs. Does that make them the true religion now?

Matthew 24:36 indicates that a time was set and no one but God knew that time. Obviously, we have not reached that time yet. All teh wishful thinkings, false prophecies, and ill conceived notions of God will not change His date. So, is it patience? Not to me. It is a timetable and too many are running to religion for salvation. Not one religion on this earth represents God. Of that, I am firmly convinced. The only reprsentative of God is Jesus and no one has a lock on him. He left a very clear instruction in the Bible. Love one another after you love God. Not pester people to death with your made up rules. Not condemn others who believe differently. Not to lord it over each other. A very simple message, love one another.

If God's Spirit is filling a Kingdom Hall, how is it that Satan can manuever the ones within that Kingdom Hall at the same time?

It almost sounds as if VioletA thinks Jesus and David Copperfield are up to the same tricks?

:If Jesus performed miracles now, you'd all be saying it was a David Copperfield thing....

I hear that a lot, or substance thereof, and it is just as stupid no matter who says it.

If God gave one hint of interest in humans, the rankest atheist on the planet would be on their knees worshiping in a heartbeat.

Faith Violet? What did Jesus or even the apostles know about faith?
They had PROOF. What sacrifice is it to die KNOWING you will be raised? Try it when you only BELIEVE. If you see a man walk on water then you know something is afoot. A burning bush? Great. A vision on the road to Damascus? Good enough for me. What about nothing? Belief in invisble actions in an invisible indescribable place. Is that faith? There is a fine line between faith and gullability.

    Hi Violet,

Most intelligent folks know that people like Copperfield are illusionists and realize that no laws of physics are being broken. If someone were down here today doing actual miracles THAT CAN BE VERIFIED in a scientific manner, we are technologically advanced enough to determine if it's an actual miracle or just smoke and mirrors. I think that the things Jesus is credited with doing are kind of like what we today would call "urban legends".
