This past weekend two highschool seniors were out on the beach in 'South Beach Miami'. The went for a walk on the beach near a popular club. They were both attacked and kidnapped by 5 guys. IT was horrible, the families were devestated, not knowing what had happened. Last night on the news it was reported that the boyfriend had been stabbed 14 times and was left for dead on the side of the road, just a few miles north of here. Fortunetly he was raced to the hospital and is doing fine, he's been released to go home and was being interviewed on this evenings news.
Unfortunetly his beautiful girlfriend was not so fortunate, after being raped by all five of her captors her body was dumped on the side of the freeway in Boca Raton. Her family, boyfriend and friends are devestated.
All 5 of the guys were arrested in Orlando after they used her ATM card in various locations from Miami to Orlando, they were caught on video. The youngest was 16 years old.
Both of the victims were seniors at the 'South Beach Miami' high school. Her family had fled from Columbia several years ago to escape the violence.
They showed videos of her at differnt brithdays, and her prom. There was a candlelight vigil outside her home this evening as her mom watched on in tears. They interviewed some friends and teachers, but few could speak as they were overcome with tears, even the principle. It was such a waste and a loss, this beautiful young woman with so much potentential. I can't imagine what they're all going through knowing she died such a horrible death. Things won't be the same in South Beach for a while.
When I was in 10th grade we had 5 kids die that year. 3 were in car accidnets, another a boy I'd known since first grade got killed while accidently cleaning his gun (Many still do not buy this, including me) and other young girl Leslie was brutally stabbed to death on our first day of school. I had talked to her only an hour or so before she was attacked. She was stabbed so bad they thought it was bullets at first. She had a 14 month old baby, and it took them nearly 3 years to get enough evidence to convict her ex boyfriend her babies father of her murder. We all knew it was him, but they had to prove it. Leslie was very involved in taking care of her disabled brother, and a 14 month old lil boy who was adorable. Our whole school was paralized. Her family was devestated, and I don't envy her mother who has to tell her grandson someday that his father brutally murdered his mother. Can you imagine???
I hadn't thougt about Leslie in a while till tonight with this murder. and yet it's something that her family has to deal with everyday, as will this new young ladies. I know we've all suffered alot on this board, but there are somethings we can't even imagine, and when compared to other peoples lives, we don't really have it all that bad.
I'm sorry to get you all down tonight, but I just felt like sharing. And maybe we can send some thoughts or good vibes to her family and boyfriend.
