    A self appointed dictatorship.

Removing anyone who dares to question.

Deleting from literature and history anything embarrassing to the movement.

Zero tolerance, functioning & appearance of the movement is worth more than an individuals life.

.....but am I talking about North Korea or Watchtower? Kinda scary, can you name many charities that share these traits? If any?

This BBC article on Kim Jong Un, executing his uncle made me think of Watchtower..

"Jang Song-thaek was a mentor to the young North Korean dictator and one of the regime's most influential figures until he was publicly purged last week.

Video showed the 67-year-old Mr Jang being dragged out of his seat by police at a government meeting and official North Korean photographs were quickly doctored to remove all traces of him.

The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) announced the execution of the man it described as "a traitor to the nation for all ages"

The kid (Kim Jong Un) almost made to a suicidal point when he flexed his nuclear muscles against South Korea three months back. Then somehow good sense prevailed, he turned back. With old wisdom (uncle) being dismissed and destroyed, WT can induct the kid into their GB! Both will make a good TEAM = Together Empowering & Accomplishing More!!!

To know how bad or animalistic religion could be, take a look at when religion had also political powers! Think of the situation in US if WT were like a priest to the US Government! How many executions could have been carried out by now!

This is a good comparison. I used to wonder what living under Bethel's control in a theocracy after Armageddon would be like. There would be no concept of civil rights or civil liberties. We could exercise zero control over our lives. Selection of partners would be impossible. It would be as bad as North Korea or other infamous dictatorships. Most Witnesses don't ponder the concrete realities of post-Armageddon life. Do you really want your local elders or Bethel directing every aspect of life for eternity. The GB ruling the world. We could not have JWN. No New York Times, Wall Street Journal or other journalism. No Vogue magazine or Elle. No fine arts. Goodbye Beethoven, Bach, the Beatles, Dylan, etc. Hello Kingdom Melodies.

Forget philharmonic orchestra and ballet. How would traffic run? Would there be cities? What about an economy? First century Christians did have to confront these questions. Whatever matters to you in this world. gone forever. There would be no books for me to read. No scholarship in history or law. Law would cease to be. No common law or civil law.

No open political process. Just chairs on the GB being pulled out as in Evita. Very old men making decisions for women, men, and children. The chaos and lack of public health systems would make Armageddon seem a nice experience. No international bodies or treaties. Peace officers would disappear.

When one examines Roman Catholicism and Europe for most of the Middle Ages and into the Renaissance, Moslem countries, Puritan New England, theocracy chills me to the bones. How do we have assurance God would rule? Does anyone observe any sign that Jehovah is ruling or Christ is ruling now. Sometimes with their invisible presence, I find they truly blaspheme Jesus. Would the person who healed the sick and fed the multittudes allow our present mess?

No, I see 1984, Animal Farm, and the Khmer Rouge. It would be worse than Hitler's system. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Band on the run, Don't you want to have a pet panda?

I have never thought of this before. What an excellent point. When JW's make that twisted comment about how the 144,000 need someone to rule over on earth... Is this the kind of ruler you want to serve for eternity? And if everyone is now perfect, what need will there be for 144,000 judges?

BOTR: Great post! You are absolutely right, most JWs have NOT really considered what a post-Armageddon world would be like. It would most certainly NOT be the paradise they want us to believe. It'd be hell on earth.

As with North Korea, If the Governing Body currently ruled the world, there would be no...

    Democracy

    Liberty

    UN

    Charities for the poor

    Higher education

Record of history or science other than there own

Opinions on science & history permitted other than their own

    Tolerance for opposing views

    Freedom to worship

    Freedom of speech

    Freedom of thought

    Internet

    Provocative art

    Secular music

    Tv

    Movies

'Unnecessary' materialistic possessions ( as deemed by the body)

Privacy.... All people deemed to have broken rules are to be reported

but with Watchtower it gets more personal, there would be no....

Blood banks or life saving medical treatment involving blood

    Abortion

    Women's rights

    Child protection

    Marital Freedoms, i.e......

    Oral sex

    Masturbation

    Porn

    Divorce

Most JW's pretend to follow the watchtower rules, whilst they openly mock it, such as making sure your children know the kingdom melodies better than their pop music as said by a governing body member this year. Its just so far removed from reality! Most JW's would laugh at that idiocy, but this is the world and life they are asking for! they are welcome to it, but the rest of humanity, including me...

WE DONT WANT IT and guess what.....we know you dont really either....

North Korea has better writers. A sample:

"However, despicable human scum Jang, who was worse than a dog, perpetrated thrice-cursed acts of treachery in betrayal of such profound trust and warmest paternal love shown by the party and the leader for him."

That's from the official annoncement. http://www.northkoreatech.org/2013/12/13/full-text-of-kcna-announcement-on-execution-of-jang/
