Legitimate Children

I have my own personal viewpoint on why its often so futile to reason with a Jehovers Witness.

I think many witnesses, feel like legitimate children to the organisation. ( i have often heard the org being referrd to as mother). And this parental sence of belonging is so strong that new membets become " stepchildren". These stepchildren dont have such a sence of belonging or ownership, but seek approval and love from the legitimate children.

I am not sure if that makes sence? But i guess the life within the " lie" becomes more important than life without the " lie", where they dont have a sence of belonging and ownership.

your point of view is welcome.

I converted. In my congs there were no real divisions like that. To be a new face was a cong pleaser. The main types of divisions were the elders wives that were full of themselves and looked down on many in the cong converts or not. The elderly and the sick were treated badly in my congs.

There is my experience. Kate xx

Whatever nasty humans characteristics are denounced by Witnesses as "worldly" and "part of Satan's system", are greatly magnified within Kingdom Halls in particular and in the Org generally! By claiming to be uniquely "God's chosen people" and to zelously strive to show people "how wrong THEY are" in THEIR beliefs, immediately brings to mind Jesus' 'rafter & straw' illustration!

As one who got out before getting baptized, I can sort of see what you're saying. There is definitely a pecking order in the KH, and even a visitor can figure it out, if you're paying attention. "We're all equals," is one of those claims they make that just aren't true.

Since we were shiny and new, we never got demoted to stepchild. I think I noticed it happening to one unnoticable lady in the congregation. She got baptized at the CA, and I heard the comment from someone, "Oh, she's finally doing that huh?" There didn't seem to be a lot of joy in it.

I observed a few baptism "talks" and ceremonies, as a non-JW (student). They were creepy.

My experience was that there was two tier class. First class made of interconnected families who were in the "truth" for two three generations. They controlled everything, their opinion mattered the most and could get away with a lot of things. They felt that that they could pass on any young cute sister, and many female looked upon them as a choosen nobility. Than there was a second class of people who were convert, and did not had family relationship. They were outsiders, they were not invated into social events, they did not participate on studies, and they were seldom asked to answer a question. Any divergence from the mainstream was not tolerated, and if you crossed the I. tier, you got DFs.

So i have concluded many like the life within the " lie"of the organisation...it must be wonderful living a life where even a trip to the supermarket is an " adventure" in which you feel special and better than all the other shoppers...and you can feel so warm, secure and important within the " lie"....and blame all your " worldley" misfortune on Satans persecution....

This is so extreme, but by the same tune does not surprise me in the least. Kate xx
