click on a members only topic, the 'sign in' page comes up and I"M ALREADY SIGNED in??????

Happens to me too every now and then and I still haven't got a clue why this happens, so I'm curious to the response of someone who knows why/what this is...

Might be the cookie needs to be deleted, worth a try.... in your browser / settings / cookies find the JWN one and delete it, then log in again and see if it's happy now.

Do a google search for how to delete a cookie (not all of them!) in your browser if stuck.
